NATIONAL DANCE DAY 

September 19 is celebrated as a National Dance Day. If you have a favorite dance move or go-to routine, this is the time for all to break it down on the dance floor. In the mid-19th century, the most popular forms of dance, the waltz, was introduced.

1920- This was a big decade for the introduction of well-known dances, including the Charleston and the black-Bottom 

2010– National Dance Day was started by Nigel Lythgoe and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton as a means to promote a healthy lifestyle.

2019– National Dance Day moves from July to September to be more aligned with the academic year and student-based partnerships. As of 2019, National Dance Day takes place on the third Saturday of September.

NATIONAL GYMNASTICS DAY 

In modern times, National Gymnastics Day is held annually on the third Saturday of September. Mirroring ancient Greece, the first National Gymnastics Day was held in the late 1990s as a way of getting young people more involved in the importance of exercise. This year, on September 19, gyms will turn into beehives of activity with displays and exhibitions highlighting the benefits of a healthy body for kids and adults alike.
