How people celebrate National Day of Prayer?
While some people will attend interdenominational prayer events, others will attend the church, mosque, synagogue, monasteries, or temple of their choice to pray. Some people gather for prayer or meditation. The COVID-19 outbreak has locked everyone into their homes. This year, the citizens are celebrating this day inside their homes, praying to God for the pandemic and its victims.
This day is not about the gathering of people from different countries, it’s about one of the most famous cocktails, the cosmopolitan. This drink highlights the 90’s as the best drink of its time. Cosmopolitan is informally known as cosmo.
This day is coined by Jace Shoemaker-Galloway, a freelance writer. The origin of the cocktail cosmopolitan can be found in traces in history in 1968 when Ocean Spray wanted to advertise cranberry juice to adults which had vodka, cranberry, and a squeeze of lime, which was very close to Cosmo. It is also said to have its roots from the gay subculture of Miami Beach, Florida and Provincetown, Massachusetts and the credit of the formal invention of the drink goes to a bartender named Toby Cecchini who made the drink while working at the famous Odean in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood in 1987. The cocktail quickly spread into the celebrity culture and gained popularity when it was pictured with celebrities and when it appeared on TV. This was the time when it made a cultural impact on the U.S.
